BIONIC Hill in Kyiv suspended

Construction of BIONIC Hill in Kyiv was suspended, as reported by a parliamentary deputy and a shareholder of UDP Vasyl Khmelnytsky in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine news agency. “It makes no sense to invest in the scientific town which is not equipped with the engineering communications and when it is hard to get there.  We have fulfilled our obligations and expect the city authorities to fulfil theirs», - mentioned the UDP’s shareholder.
As he says, the city does not make extra demands on the company; the reason is that the city authorities have problems with the budget.  But when the city chooses a strategy of closing off the loopholes, the money will never be enough.
Vasyl Khmelnytskyi recalls that the project aims at creating 35,000 workplaces, attracting investment up to $1 billion, filling up the budget by $160 million of taxes annually. “The company takes commercial risks. And the expectation is, certainly, that the city authorities will assist. This is a civilized partnership. If we opened such a park, for instance, in Poland, it would already work”, - states BIONIC Hill’s founder. He thinks that not everyone understands the importance of the project for the country’s economy. “Today BIONIC Hill’s team considers the possibility to open the Innovation Park in one of the regional centers in Ukraine. If this happens, this example will encourage the capital and dispel doubts. I am sure, sooner or later, Kyiv will have its own innovation park”, - said Vasyl Khmelnytsky.
